The “Yellowstone” Trauma Kit – Mountain Man Medical
$119.99 – $138.99
Description
The Yellowstone Kit is named for the Yellowstone Park in Wyoming which is believed to be first seen by a non-native by Mountain Man John Colter. Stories told by Mountain Men over the next 40 years of boiling mud, steaming rivers, and petrified trees eventually brought more explorers to the region including famous Mountain Man and explorer Jim Bridger. Yellowstone eventually became the first National Park in the United States, approved by President Grant in 1872.
The Yellowstone Kit is a basic but comprehensive Trauma kit from Mountain Man Medical. When designing this kit the team set out to build something that they felt would suffice for 99% of trauma emergencies. Similar to the Sweetwater Kit but with added QuickClot, Chest Seals, and additional gauze.
We dare you to compare it to competing trauma kits that cost more and come with lower-quality components.
Also, when putting this kit together the team focused on compact components. This kit can easily be repurposed to a smaller pouch or an ankle IFAK or cargo pocket. Mini compression bandage, mini marker, small shears, tightly bundled gloves, compact chest seals and vacuum sealed hemostatic dressing, and compressed gauze and bandages are some of the keys to that overall compact delivery.

The SWAT-T is a versatile proven tourniquet. Just wrap and stretch using the instructions printed on the tourniquet itself to ensure proper application. Unlike many popular tourniquets it can be applied on animals or any appendage. It can also double as a compression bandage in a pinch.
The C-A-T and SOF-T tourniquets are both TCCC approved for combat use and have been the industry standard for tourniquets for decades. Easy to self-apply and fast and quick to slack with windlass. Please note we only sell genuine tourniquets. These are NOT fake counterfeits. For more information on the differences between these tourniquets review this video.
ChitoGauze OTC Hemostatic Dressing – 3 inch x 48 inch
This battlefield-proven hemostatic gauze is ideal for wound packing and stopping the bleed. It is z-folded in sterile packaging and vacuum sealed to reduce footprint and fit in any IFAK. This is an impregnated gauze, not a powder or granule. It is fully safe and effective and has a shelf life of over 5 years.
Hyfin Compact Twin Chest Seal
The HyFin Vent Twin Pack which gives responders two vented chest seals in a compact packaging for the treatment of penetrating injuries to the chest. Designed with 3-vented channels that allow air to escape the chest cavity during exhalation but prevents air from entering through the injury site during inhalation. Each HyFin Vent Compact Chest Seal is 4.75” x 4.75” and made with advanced adhesive to provide a superior adhesion in the most adverse conditions, including sweaty or hairy casualties.
Contained in a rugged, easy-to-open foil pouch, the perforated packaging allows users to open only one dressing at a time as needed. Its small packaging is ideal for low profile kits as you do not have to fold it to get it to fit in your kit, go-bag, cargo pocket or body armor.
TacMed Compact Trauma Bandage
The Compact Trauma Bandage from TacMed Solutions is a simple, effective pressure dressing designed to treat non-life-threatening hemorrhaging. It utilizes an elastic wrap material that can be used to generate pressure and a sterile wound pad that can be placed directly over the injury to aid in the control of bleeding. The bandage is flat-folded and vacuum-sealed to create a low profile so it can be easily stored.
2 Pairs Large Nitrile Gloves*
These heavy-duty strength gloves (5-mil thick) are made from medical-grade synthetic rubber. They are puncture-resistant, stretchable and ambidextrous. They are disposable and designed for single use. These are size Large, designed to fit an overwhelming majority of American adults.
They are individually pre-wrapped in pairs and packaged for easy and fast deployment. Designed to fit in ankle cuffs and other compact IFAK pouches and carriers.
Nitrile gloves are a superior alternative to traditional latex as they offer greater durability, chemical resistance and control while simultaneously being non-allergenic. Take comfort in knowing these gloves are Latex-Free and Powder-Free.
Each Yellowstone Kit comes with 2 Pair (4 gloves)

They will fit in any IFAK or medical kit at only 14.5cm long. Professionally designed for doctors, nurses, EMT & EMS. Blunt tips keep your patient safe.
Black Permanent Mini Marker
Permanent ink writes on paper, plastic, metal, skin, fabric, and most other surfaces. Smear resistant ink dries quickly and resists fading and water.

I agree with you

A great kit. Our department added training with the CAT on the qualification range last year. We self-apply to both arm and leg during live-fire qualification.
Larry Dunham (verified owner) –
Great, solid kit! I bought three of these, along with extra CATs and 3 Israeli style bandages. Two will go in each of my wife’s and I’s cars and one for home/range bag. Next, we are going to take some Stop the Bleed classes and hopefully progress from there as life allows. My brother in law turned me on to them as well as a few podcasts. Well worth it!
Myles (verified owner) –
Great kit to have in the car if something ever happens. Very happy with the quality of the kit. Would recommend to anyone.
Robert Peterson (verified owner) –
Seems like a very good kit. I had concerns about the trauma shears, they look pretty flimsy but I used them to cut up an old undershirt (double layered) . They blew right through it. I also got the CAT tourniquet. I’m confident that I’m prepared for most trauma emergencies. That’s a good feeling.
John Pinkston (verified owner) –
Kit seems as advertised, except for the marker. Mine must be defective….the entire ink cartridge comes out with the cap.
I should have ordered a holster for the add on CAT tourniquet.
I like the rest of the kit quite well.
Admin –
John, sorry to hear about the marker. We’ve never heard that kind of feedback before so I trust it’s an outlier. I will contact you directly to get it replaced.

This is a great item for everyone to have. I bought one for the office and one for personal use. Everything came as mentioned. the cat tourniquet is made of strong material, The swat-T, Compression bandage, quick clot and chest seals are all the brand they advertise. The scissors are sturdy and tough. I tried building a similar kit but I couldn’t do it for less money than they are asking. I wish I could say more about the products themselves, but I hopefully will never have to use them ever in my life. I highly recommend this product.

Douglas Kinney (verified owner) –
Kit looks good, hopefully I won’t have to use it. Like the training videos to give confidence if have to use. Will get a couple more.
Henry (verified owner) –
I watch Active Self Protection on YouTube. John reviewed this kit and said it is a really good kit. Based on his word I purchased. I’m glad I decided to purchase this kit!
Anna Miller (verified owner) –
Great trauma kit. We are very pleased with quality and contents. We feel much more prepared to help when we can. We added the cat tourniquet to our kit.. We will be ordering another klt soon. Thank you!
Tim Elliott –
This is a very compact trauma kit. This is a trauma kit, not a first aid kit with bandaids, ointments and the like. I ordered two and am pleased with the quality. Thanks you!
Anna Miller (verified owner) –
Great trauma kit. This is our second kit. We carry this trauma kit and a first aid kit in our car and in house. We also carry one in our range bag. We like having the cat tourniquet and the swat-t tourniquet. This compact kit is the perfect size to put both first aid and trauma kits in our medical bag. Great videos and YouTube !!
Peter B (verified owner) –
I bought two as gifts as it’s a good way to get others to think about safety. John at ASP’s referral helped. They’re complete and practical enough for almost anything.
Cindy Dozier (verified owner) –
I have not used the contents yet, but the kit looks like everything I expected.
J. Sirles (verified owner) –
This kit is really high quality and thoroughly planned out. I like that you have options on which tourniquet that goes into the kit. It seams to be a great value at its price point.
Al LaPointe (verified owner) –
Very functional, common sense, effective and compact. Just what we need – Thanks for nailing it!
Bob H. (verified owner) –
It’s amazing how much stuff you can fit in such a small package and still have things that are worthwhile and useful. I got one of the smaller kits some time back, but I wanted this one for “just in case”. I hope I never need it, but I’d rather be prepared if I ever do.
Matthew Rogers II (verified owner) –
I did the free first aid course and then bought one of these kits. After seeing the quality, and completeness of the kits, I ended up buying one for each of the cars.
Then I got my partner to do the class, and she wanted one.
I think I’ve gotten about four of these so far, and another one for the house.

I purchase two (2) of The Yellowstone Trauma Kits. One for my BOB (Bug Out Bag) and the other one in my EDC (Every Day Carry) Bag. I have a hard time beliving so many people carry guns and knives and NO Trauma kit what so ever. What else can I say… If you carry any type of weapon you should have one on you and know how to use it…

As described! Good stuff…

An article at my favorite firearms website (Pew Pew Tactical) recommends people keep first aid kits in their range bags, and this was one of the brands/models that they suggested. I chose it for both its contents and size (fits nicely in an exterior pocket of my large Midway range bag). Also, MMM has some extremely useful videos on how to use the tourniquet, chest seal, etc., which “sealed the deal” for me.
Keith (verified owner) –
Nice Kit. Happy with it as it has everything I think I will need to respond in an emergency. I did add a couple extra pairs of gloves add some 4×4 gauze pads,
Katie Howard (verified owner) –
Great kit! I like the portability (size) of this kit! Don’t let its size fool you though—it has quality contents for serious emergency situations. Contents are well-packed and accessible. Thank you!
K. Stinson (verified owner) –
This is a great compact kit. It has the necessary items to address Trauma. It is worth the money.
George Mincks (verified owner) –
This is the second Yellowstone trauma kit I’ve purchased since it provides a excellent choice of materials/tools to respond to emergencies and to further add supplies to increase usefulness in multi causalities. I also like the ability to make a choice of which tourniquet one prefers.
Mark (verified owner) –
Awesome kit & bag! Going to go in the vehicle I added an Israeli type bandage, twine, compass & compact silver blanket to it, benzoin tincture & antiseptic cleaner packs. On a hiking trip it’s going w me 4 sure! Thx for an awesome first aid kit!
Peter Szalay (verified owner) –
Has what we need on our electricians vans to stop or slow the serious bleeding until emergency responders arrive. The red bag stands out like it should. It’s the REAL first aid in my opinion when compared to what they provide in standard first aid kits.
Kevin (verified owner) –
Great pack, just be aware to order early. It took about two months for mine to arrive

What a great med kit. I added a trauma pouch and some bandaids. Carry it with me wherever I go. Well made kit, everything you need. Fits in my knapsack, well worth the money and wait to receive it.
