We recommend larger and more comprehensive kits for a better prepared response or to treat penetrating chest trauma—but for 80% of likely emergencies, this compact kit gives you a fighting chance. Best of all, it’s affordable enough to stash in your car, your home, and every bag you own.

This kit for example, includes the SWAT-T Tourniquet, which, while it is effective when used properly, we prefer a TCCC-recommended tourniquet generally, but those TQs don't offer the compact footprint of the SWAT-T. Further, this IFAK doesn't include chest seals or a hemostatic gauze, which we generally recommend in an IFAK. Our focus here was to identify what WOULD FIT in a cargo pocket and build the best IFAK possible around that requirement. In a pinch, you could improvise the plastic bag with the duct tape to fashion a chest seal, and we are including compressed gauze which can be used for wound packing, though it lacks the benefit of the hemostatic interwoven gauzes we include in larger IFAKs.
