Saturday/Sunday March 26th and 27th

Defenders USA

Where? Grand Junction, Colorado

This course is designed to teach basics of medical trauma management for increased survivability in both non-hostile medical situations and in the hostile environments where an armed defender may also need to save life by rendering aid.

Trauma medicine is a constantly evolving and changing skill sets need to be kept sharp and ready at a moment’s notice. Even if you have attended first aid classes in the past, there is a good chance that information is outdated and not enough for dealing with many types of life-threatening medical situations.

In this course, you will learn how to properly care for a victim of a traumatic medical emergency or a violent encounter, whether the victim is you, a family member, or a bystander.

Topics of discussion will cover:

Bleeding control with a tourniquet

Bleeding control with wound packing

Chest seal application

Care under fire

Tactical / medical field care

What to carry in & how to carry an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK)

This will be primarily classroom instruction, with demonstrations and individual practice using medical gear and trauma kits.

If you already have a trauma kit and would like for it to be inspected, feel free to bring it. If you would like to get one for yourself or a loved one, IFAK’s will be available to purchase from Mountain Man Medical when registering for the training course or in person at the course.
