Wound Packing Gauze Part 1: What If You Don’t Have Any?

It is not a requirement to use a hemostatic gauze for wound packing. While the additional clotting factor is beneficial, our primary goal is packing the wound cavity with so much gauze, pressure is applied to the bleeding artery and hemorrhage is controlled.

While it helps to have professional wound packing material in a trauma kit, wound packing can be done with any cloth, preferably clean.
